Free Training Option
Driving Instructor Trainers is able to offer two different schemes which include some free training to become an approved driving instructor, DVSA ADI.
The number of places on each scheme is limited, and is subject to meeting certain criteria, and an interview.
Whilst working on either a trainee licence or as a fully qualified DVSA ADI, your earnings, and the franchise fees payable would be at the standard rate of Birmingham Driving School, the same rates as other driving instructors not on one of these schemes.
In return for being provided with free training, there is a requirement to commit to work with Birmingham Driving School or one of our other sister companies once qualified.
DVSA ADI Free Training Option One
Eligibility And Responsibilities Of Trainee / Driving Instructor
You will already have passed DVSA ADI Part 1
You will already have passed DVSA ADI Part 2
You will NOT have taken any attempt at DVSA ADI Part 3
You will have a minimum of 9 months still available of your ‘2 year qualification window’ when your trainee licence commences
i.e. it will be less than 15 months since you passed DVSA ADI Part 1
You will complete and pay for a DVSA ADI Part 3 course with Driving Instructor Trainers, of fifteen 3 hour sessions
You will pay for your trainee licence
You will supply a suitable dual controlled car in which to work as a trainee driving instructor, and subsequently a qualified driving instructor
You will pay the fee for any attempts at the DVSA ADI Part 3
Depending on availability of DVSA ADI Part 3 appointments, the possible need to take more than one attempt, and any other circumstances, it may be appropriate to apply for a second trainee licence.
The issue of a second trainee licence is not guaranteed, but if it is appropriate, you should do everything within your power to obtain it, this will allow you to continue teaching your clients, so not having to let them down, but also to continue preparing for DVSA ADI Part 3, and retaining suitable pupils to use for the test.
Free Training Provided By Driving Instructor Trainers
For the duration of your trainee licence, or until you pass DVSA ADI Part 3, whichever is sooner, Driving Instructor Trainers will provide you with training to help you to continue your preparation for DVSA ADI Part 3, this training will be at the rate of one 3 hour training session every 2 weeks.
If you Pass DVSA ADI Part 3 after fourteen weeks, you would have received 21 hours of training, which would normally cost £1260, but will have been supplied without charge.
If you Pass DVSA ADI Part 3 after twenty six weeks, you would have received 39 hours of training, which would normally cost £2340, but will have been supplied without charge.
If a second trainee licence is required, and we are able to obtain one, the training would continue at the average of 1½ hours per week for the duration of the second Trainee Licence, or until you pass the Part 3 Test, whichever is sooner.
This could mean that the amount of training received using this scheme could be as much as 78 hours, which would normally cost £4680, however on this scheme it is provided FREE OF CHARGE.
Liquidated Damages Clause
It is the intention of Driving Instructor Trainers to supply the training outlined above, with the aim of helping a potential driving instructor to qualify as a DVSA ADI, without having to pay the full cost of training.
In return for Driving Instructor Trainers supplying an amount of training for no immediate fee, the potential driving instructor will commit to working under a franchise agreement with Birmingham Driving School, or one of our other sister companies.
If the driving instructor does not continue to work with Birmingham Driving School, then the full cost of all the training provided is payable immediately, this will be calculated at our normal rate for individual training sessions, currently £180 for a 3 hour training session.
The amount payable under this clause will reduce based on the time that the driving instructor continues to work for Birmingham Driving School.
It is not the intention of Driving Instructor Trainers to impose a penalty on the trainee / driving instructor, but it is necessary that where appropriate the loss of fees for training that would normally be paid are recovered.
A contract will detail the responsibilities of both the trainee / driving instructor and Driving Instructor Trainers.
