What is a “Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor”?
A Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor
(DSA ADI) is the qualification required to teach driving for money.
The qualification has previously been called
“Ministry of Transport Approved Driving Instructor” and “Department of Transport Approved Driving Instructor”
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is an executive agency of the Department for Transport (DfT).
The DSA are responsible for conducting both theory and practical “L” tests for all types of vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, LGV, and PCV.
The DSA also train examiners, publish several books on driving, conduct the qualifying examinations for Driving Instructors, and administer the register of Approved Driving Instructors.
